I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series: A Growing Force in Ugandan Golf.

The katogo golf series has developed into a distinct competitive within Uganda’s amateur golfing scene. Its growth reflects the increasing interest in golf as both a sport and a platform for building professional and personal relationship.

The 2026 edition marks the fourth season of the series. I&M Bank Uganda announced a sponsorship package worth approximately UGX796 million, demonstrating the commitment of the bank and its partners to the competition’s continued development.

The bank also extended its title sponsorship for another three years, providing a stronger foundation for future editions. This long-term commitment creates opportunities for organisers to improve the tournament experience, attract more participants and expand the competition’s regional reach.

Exciting Golf Formats That Test Skills and Strategy.

One of the defining of the I&M Bank Katogo golf series is its innovative approach to competition. Rather than relying on a single format throughout the season, organisers introduce different challenges that test player’s technical ability, strategic thinking, adaptability and teamwork.

The 2026 season introduced the It’s up to me format, which gives a designated player the responsibility of choosing the position from which the group plays its second shot. The format encourages golfers to assess different options and make decisions that can influence the outcome of each hole.

Another format, call your shots, challenges players declare the clubs they intend to use before beginning their round. Meanwhile, Tee for me places greater emphasis on teamwork, as players challenge balls after their tee shots and continue with their partners’ balls.

The season’s Double Bogey Danger finale adds another layer pf pressure. Players must remove a club from their bags after scoring a double bogey or worse and can restore a club only after making par or better.

These creative formats keep the competition engaging while encouraging golfers approach familiar challenges in new ways.

Beyond The Course: Networking and Entertainment.

The I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series offers more than a sporting contest. Its popular 19th Hole experience gives participants an opportunity to relax, socialise and build relationships after completing their rounds.

The gatherings bring together golfers, business professionals, sponsors and invited guests in an informal setting. Through these interactions, participants can establish new connections, strengthen existing partnerships and exchange ideas beyond their usual professional environments.

Organisers also introduce different entertainment themes to make each event distinctive. Music, social activities and interactive experiences help create an atmosphere that appeals to participants who value both the competition and the opportunity to connect with others.

This combination of sport and entertainment gives the series a broader appeal, attracting people who see golf as both a recreational activity and a way to develop meaningful relationships.

I&M Bank’s Commitment to Golf and Community Engagement.

I&M Bank Uganda’s continued investment in the Katogo Golf Series reflects its interest in creating experiences that extend beyond conventional banking services.

By supporting the competition, the bank strengthens its engagement with customers, business partners and the wider golf community. The series provide a shared platform where people can interact in a relaxed environment while enjoying a competitive sporting experience.

The involvement of corporate sponsors also demonstrates how partnerships can support the growth of local sports. Sponsors contribute resources, prizes and event experiences that help organisers deliver a more engaging competition.

For Uganda’s golf community, this continued investment supports the development of a stronger sporting culture and creates opportunities for local golfers to participate in well-organised tournaments.

Taking Ugandan Golf Beyond National Borders.

The series has also expanded its regional presence through cross-border competitions involving golfers from neighbouring countries.

In May 2026, Ugandan golfers defeated their Kenyan counterparts in the return leg of the Migingo Skirmishes at Entebbe club, winning 16.5 points against Kenya’s 11.5. The contest highlighted the competitive spirit of the participating golfers while strengthening sporting connections between Uganda and Kenya.

The series’ international outlook creates opportunities for golfers to experience different courses, compete against new opponents and build relationships across national boundaries.

Such encounters can contribute to the wider development of golf in east Africa by encouraging friendly rivalry, knowledge exchange and stronger connections between golfing communities.
